Employees
working in different fields perceive their jobs differently. Depending on a
person personality and interest in the job can effect how they perform. If an
employee enjoys their job it will influence their performance. According to the
ancient story, the man building the cathedral may be more enthusiastic about
his position because he is part of building a very important place, which makes
him feel worthy. The man carving a single stone will probably not have enough
drive or feel as appreciated as the man building a cathedral.
I
think people follow Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs, which impacts their needs of
performance. Corporate employees have high needs of satisfaction in the work
place. Employees feel high responsibility for having an important job where
they encourage receiving high status, praise and recognition. Also, at this
level they feel the need for job flexibility, making decisions and challenge in
their work. These factors influence their performance and give them the
motivation to achieve high status in the company.
To
motivate workers to perform well and feel worthy within a company, I would
suggest making them feel included in the company. This would be done by
listening to their ideas, including them in important meetings, giving some
sort of incentive to accomplished workers, and keep them up to date with the
companies achievements and goals. These are some ideas to motivate employees to
have high performance in a company.
I agree that in order to motivate a worker you would have to listen to their ideas and give incentives. Little things like that can really motivate an individual, if no body cares about what you feel, think or want then your eventually going to start doing the same not take into consideration the duties that are expected from you,
ReplyDeleteListening the employee's ideas and rewarding those or giving incentives to accomplished workers is an important work philosophy that improves motivation. I have worked in restaurants as a server for many years however whenever there is a wine competition by a wine distributor, to sell the most of a particular wine for a great prize, not only did it build motivation to work harder but also to work extra days to secure the win. Simply motivating employees by satisfying basic needs will not cut it. Corporations must identify individual needs and work towards motivating those needs to drive the employees to further success.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely letting an employee know that they are an integral piece of a larger picture will result in much better performance. I agree with your theory on Maslows hierarchy and I believe that these needs are certainly more important in the corporate world.
ReplyDeleteIt is essential that managers identify individual needs and tailor incentives to those needs. What might motivate one particular employee might not motivate another. You are right, understanding needs according to Maslow is very important.
ReplyDeleteyes I agree with you, the enviornment must be good for workers to work with full potential. Maslow hierarchy is the best!!
ReplyDeleteI too believe that Maslow's Hierarchy was what people followed as well. They need to feel important within the company to motivate them. They need to give them break time and be able to listen to others advice when trying to make the company better. They need to have incentive which would motivate the workers to WANT to do better which would overall benefit both the company and the employee.
ReplyDeleteAllowing an employee to speak their minds and give their ideas unto the company is vital because it makes an employee feel important and needed. Productivity will increase with the increase of incentives towards the employee.
ReplyDeleteWhen employees do not listen to what employees think or want to do as parts of company, employees would feel difficulties of working with them. I believe listening and talking to employees are important task for employers in order to motive them.
ReplyDeleteI agree that making the employees feel like they are included will result in greater workflow. By inclusion, the employees will feel like they are making a difference in how the company runs.
